Portable Cassette-player, "Walkman" (Sony)
Sony started to sell portable cassette-players with brand name Walkman in 1979. This product offered very convenient and novel feature of enjoying music anywhere and anytime, owing to its small size realized by ultra-high-density assembly technology of semiconductors and other elements. The new feature together with its good naming appealed to the market and brought a big hit to this new concept product. gWalkmanh became a synonym for portable audio equipment and created a new trend of high performance portable consumer electronic equipment.
