Transistor TV (Sony)

Sony (then Tokyo Tsushin-kogyo) developed and commercialized the world first 8inch transistor monochrome TV, TV8-301. Although this was the world first product, it did not sell as expected partly because of its quality issue. Based on this experience, Sony developed 5 inch Micro TV, TV5-303, in April 1962.
This TV was sold first in the US and gained dramatic popularity in the market.
The catch phrase at that time was "Transistors changed TV", and it impressed the market on the strong impact of semiconductors.
